11:00am., April 9, 2007: The Beijing Olympic News Center launches the “Olympic Families Tour Beijing” campaign. Director Zhou Yi from China Mobile Communications Corporation (CMCC), a partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, gave the following address at the ceremony.

Good morning!
First, please allow me to extend our gratitude to the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympic Games for being here at this opening ceremony for the “Olympic Families Tour Beijing” campaign in cooperation with CMCC. CMCC will spare no efforts in supporting this meaningful campaign.
That Beijing won the right to host the 29th Olympic Games made our century’s dreams come true. It is not only a tremendous event for China, but also for the world. The participation of ordinary people is fundamental to the Games. As partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympics, CMCC shoulders the mission and responsibility of helping more people to participate in this grand event through their mobile phones. Currently, China Mobile, in terms of market value, is the largest of all overseas listed Chinese companies and the largest of all mobile communication companies in the world. It has the largest number of mobile subscribers in the world (approaching 400 million) and provides the widest global roaming service with premium network coverage. We are committed to providing “the most abundant business, advanced technology and considerate service” for the Beijing Olympic Games and carry out the concept of “High-Tech helps to promote the Olympics.”
Since joining up with the Olympic Games, CMCC has given full support to great events such as the revealing of the Beijing Olympic Mascots, the release of the Olympic slogans and asking the public for their help in composing Olympic songs. By using SMS, multi-media SMS, mobile on-line and other service means, we were the first to deliver information about each event to the public, promoting the Olympics and also emphasizing that information via mobile phones is available anytime anywhere. Leaders at BOCOG have appreciated what we have done. I believe that China Mobile as a mobile service carrier has performed outstandingly compared to previous Olympic partners. We have made a tremendous contribution to publicizing Olympic concepts and promoting the development of the Games.
This campaign fully interprets the Olympic spirit of “participation by all citizens.” With “Olympic families” at its heart, it consolidates communications between nations and nationalities and helps the world to better understand China, Beijing, and the Beijing Olympic Games. It strengthens mutual understanding between China and the world and helps establish a good international image for the country. CMCC will give unsurpassed support to this event: we are providing a wireless network so that more people can be informed or participate in the event through mobile SMS, multi-media SMS or mobile Internet website, and can share the pleasure of the Olympics.
